The newest release of LinkedIn allows people to invite each other based upon common groups. I also think that listing the "Python Community" under groups and associations is a better representation of what we are doing than a "None" position in the Community. I think it's a better venue for this sort of thing because it facilitates actual communication between "friends" (the equivalent of a LinkedIn "connection"). There are already Python groups on Facebook The possible downside of FaceBook is the ubiquity of access. LinkedIn is more business network focused. I know this because Van Lindburg tried to sign up for a group for PyCon08. It should be ready in time however. The plan is to have LinkedIn integrated into the PyCon08 web site, along with many other social networking sites. One unique feature of the LinkedIn integration is the connection for those who are hiring. Not just attendees will be in the group, also companies looking for talent and those representing them will be there. At least that is the plan. I know I am getting way ahead of myself here.
