How typical of slashdot to try and make news of information that's over a year old.

I used to work for one of the /. crowd's favorite whipping boys (hint, flash) and now I work for a storage company, and the general misinformation/lack of information has been getting worse.

I think given it's still in alpha, it's ok to expect there won't be a lot of information flying around about migration. Building a test plan/migration plan on shifting sand is difficult at best.

That being said, more information about what efforts there are to work on transitional tools and releases in a more focused location would be nice.

what's slightly more alarming is the article that got slashdotted doesn't mention anything about the 2to3 migration script. I also just noticed that googling "python 2 to 3 migration script" gives you no useful information whatsoever. Not to mention, googling "python 2to3" gives you a confusing svn repository layout.

Remarkably most of the higher rated comments are good now. Things seem to be settling down. Yes there are still idiot posts, but most now have rebuttals that are by people who can actually think.

Slashdot is no longer 'news for nerds and stuff that matters' and has become the tech equivalent of the Enquirer.

I just wish the posts about speech recognition were as well thought out. It seems that everyone thinks that speech recognition is:

1. Any audio source in -> text out
2. That stuff I use on the phone that never works
3. Was awful on my 400Mhz machine 5 years ago, sucks, and will never ever be any good (because of x, y, and z which are all dead wrong assumptions about nothing in particular).
