<p>Your actual paper copy wins hands down though! :-)</p>
<p>I’ve been tidying up a download of Hewitt’s 1973 paper (which appears to be OCRd and a bit dodgy in places) — very interesting reading. Turns out the Actor model comes from artificial intelligence and was actually an attempt to unify lots of different models of computation.</p>
<p>Oh, and lisp based. Should I be surprised ? :-)</p>
